A 2-Part Workshop Series seeking wisdom on how to live in our connected and digital age

Workshop 1: Smartphones, Social Media and Our Spiritual Health

How should a Christian approach social media and technology platforms?

Our relationship with technology in our day is truly strange and complicated. On one hand, we appreciate the many ways technology has brought value to our lives. On the other hand, we can’t help but feel that our technology platforms are encroaching into our lives too much.

So how should a Christian think about our smartphones, social media and internet consumption? What are the benefits that we can leverage? Moreover, what are the dangers that Christians must be aware of and avoid?

These are the questions we seek to answer in our first Plugged-In Workshop.

The second part of our series…

Workshop 2: Culture and Its Seductive Stories

How do the stories our culture tells through movies, malls and many other things form us?

At our core, we are not just thinking beings, but desiring beings. Our affections shape so much of who we are, what we will believe, and how we operate in this world. The entertainment we consume through TV, film, video games, the spaces we inhabit and even our leisure activities all play a role in shaping, giving meaning and defining who we are in profound ways that we’re often not aware of. They captivate us at a level deeper than our cognitive thought – at the level of our imagination, affections and longings.

So, what exactly is culture? How are we to engage with it as Christians? What effects do the practices, stories and groups of our culture have on us and the world around us? And how does God’s Word prepare us to meet these challenges?

This second virtual workshop, “Plugged In: Culture and Its Seductive Stories” seeks to explore some of these questions as we seek to form a Biblical worldview on our engagement with culture.
