HOW TO READ WISDOM LITERATURE
DATE TAUGHT: Wednesday, May
TEACHER: Thaddeus Maharaj
Nobody wants to be a fool, we all desire to live with wisdom.
God’s Word does not leave us without guidance for wisdom for living. The books of Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, the Song of Songs and even some of the Psalms are considered to be of the genre called “Wisdom Literature”.
However, sometimes people pick up these books and wonder, “why aren’t these things always true in my life and experience?” Why do some of the sayings seem to contradict each other? What’s up with all the strange images or sayings? If we’re honest, it can often be a struggle to make sense of it all.
The Bible has many different genres of literature in it. There are books of poetry and songs, history and law, letters and narratives. Each of these must be read a certain way to rightly understand their meaning. The READ SCRIPTURE Workshops are designed to help equip you with the tools you need to rightly read, interpret and apply God’s Word through teaching and practical application in an open atmosphere where you can ask questions and interact with the text.
